How to Bake a Light Fruit Cake

Baking a light fruit cake can be a delicious and enjoyable experience. Here are the steps to follow:

Ingredients: - 1 cup all-purpose flour - 1 tsp baking powder - 1/4 tsp salt - 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened - 1/2 cup granulated sugar - 1 large egg - 1/2 cup milk - 1/2 tsp vanilla extract - 1/2 cup mixed dried fruit (raisins, currants, cranberries, etc.) - 1/4 cup chopped candied fruit - 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and beat well.

4. Alternately add the flour mixture and the milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Stir in the vanilla extract.

5. Fold in the mixed dried fruit, candied fruit, and chopped nuts (if using).

6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it out evenly.

7. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it and placing it onto a wire rack to cool completely.

9. Once the cake has cooled, you can sprinkle powdered sugar on top or add a glaze if desired.

10. Slice and serve your delicious light fruit cake.
