How to Bake a Ham
Baking a ham is a delicious way to prepare this flavorful meat. Here's a basic recipe to guide you through the process:
Ingredients: - 1 bone-in fully cooked ham (7-8 pounds) - 1 cup brown sugar - 1/4 cup honey - 1/4 cup Dijon mustard - 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves - 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
2. Remove any packaging or netting from the ham, and rinse it under cold water.
3. Using a sharp knife, score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern, about 1/4 inch deep.
4. Place the ham in a large roasting pan, cut side down.
5. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
6. Brush the ham generously with the glaze, making sure to get it into the scored areas.
7. Cover the ham with foil, and bake for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C).
8. Remove the foil from the ham, and brush it with more of the glaze.
9. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C), and return the ham to the oven, uncovered.
10. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized and the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
11. Remove the ham from the oven, and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Enjoy your delicious baked ham!
