How to Add Gloss in Illustrator
To add gloss to an object in Adobe Illustrator, follow these steps:
1. Create the object you want to add gloss to using the Shape or Pen tool. 2. Select the object and go to the Appearance panel (Window > Appearance). 3. Click on the "Add New Effect" button at the bottom of the panel and select "Stylize > Inner Glow" from the drop-down menu. 4. In the Inner Glow dialog box, set the Mode to "Screen" and adjust the Opacity, Size, and Choke settings to achieve the desired gloss effect. Click OK. 5. In the Appearance panel, click on the "Add New Fill" button and select a white fill. Make sure the white fill is placed above the object's existing fill in the panel. 6. With the white fill selected, go to the Transparency panel (Window > Transparency) and reduce the Opacity to around 20-30%. 7. To add a highlight, create a new shape on top of the object and fill it with white. 8. Reduce the opacity of the white highlight shape to around 10-20% in the Transparency panel. 9. Adjust the position and size of the highlight shape as desired to create the gloss effect.
You can also experiment with different blending modes and gradient fills to achieve different types of gloss effects in Illustrator.
