How to Add Color to Beeswax

Adding color to beeswax can be a great way to make your candles or other beeswax crafts more visually appealing. Here are some steps you can follow to add color to beeswax:

1. Gather your materials: You will need beeswax, a double boiler, a thermometer, and the colorant of your choice. Some popular options for colorants include natural dyes such as beetroot powder or turmeric powder, as well as synthetic candle dyes.

2. Melt the beeswax: Fill the bottom of your double boiler with water and place it on the stove over medium heat. Add the beeswax to the top pot of the double boiler and allow it to melt slowly. Be sure to stir the beeswax occasionally with a wooden spoon to help it melt evenly.

3. Add the colorant: Once the beeswax is melted, add your colorant of choice. The amount of colorant you will need will depend on the intensity of the color you are looking for. Start with a small amount and add more as needed, stirring constantly until the color is well-distributed.

4. Check the temperature: Be sure to monitor the temperature of the beeswax using a thermometer. The ideal temperature for adding colorants is between 160°F and 180°F (71°C and 82°C). If the temperature gets too high, the color may not be evenly distributed.

5. Pour the beeswax: Once the color is well-distributed, you can pour the beeswax into your desired mold or container. Be sure to allow the wax to cool and harden completely before handling it.
