Adding transparency in Photoshop allows you to remove or make the background of an image transparent, making it easier to use in different designs and layouts. Here are the steps on how to add transparency in Photoshop:

1. Open your image in Photoshop.

2. Select the layer you want to add transparency to. If your image has only one layer, skip this step.

3. Click on the Layer Mask button at the bottom of the Layers panel. This will add a layer mask to the selected layer.

4. Click on the layer mask to select it.

5. Use the Brush tool to paint over the areas you want to make transparent. Make sure the color of the brush is set to black.

6. Use the Eraser tool to erase the areas you want to remove. Make sure the color of the eraser is set to white.

7. Adjust the Opacity and Flow of your brush or eraser to control the transparency level.

8. Save your image as a PNG file to preserve the transparency.

Alternatively, you can use the Magic Wand tool or the Quick Selection tool to select the area you want to make transparent, and then hit the Delete key on your keyboard. This will remove the selected area and make it transparent.

Remember that not all image file formats support transparency, so it's important to save your image in a format that does, such as PNG or GIF.
