How to Bake Lavender Cake
Baking a lavender cake can be a delightful way to incorporate the unique and fragrant flavor of lavender into a dessert. Here's a simple recipe for making a lavender cake:
Ingredients: - 2 cups all-purpose flour - 2 teaspoons baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon salt - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened - 1 cup granulated sugar - 2 large eggs - 1/2 cup milk - 2 tablespoons culinary lavender buds - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a 9-inch cake pan with butter or cooking spray.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each one is fully incorporated before adding the next.
5. Gradually add in the flour mixture, alternating with the milk, until all the ingredients are fully combined.
6. Crush the culinary lavender buds with your hands or in a mortar and pestle to release their flavor, then add them to the cake batter along with the vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth out the top with a spatula.
8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
9. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
10. Serve the lavender cake plain or with a dollop of whipped cream or frosting on top, and enjoy!
Note: You can also use dried lavender flowers instead of culinary lavender buds, but make sure they are food-grade and free of pesticides or chemicals.
