How to Add and Subtract Functions

To add or subtract functions, you simply add or subtract their values for each input. For example, let's say we have two functions, f(x) and g(x):

f(x) = 2x + 3 g(x) = x - 1

To add these functions, we simply add their values for each input:

(f + g)(x) = f(x) + g(x) = (2x + 3) + (x - 1) = 3x + 2

So (f + g)(x) is a new function that represents the sum of f(x) and g(x).

To subtract functions, we do the same thing, but with subtraction instead of addition:

(f - g)(x) = f(x) - g(x) = (2x + 3) - (x - 1) = x + 4

So (f - g)(x) is a new function that represents the difference between f(x) and g(x).

In general, to add or subtract functions, we simply perform the corresponding operation on their values for each input.
