How to Bathe a Leopard Gecko

Bathing a leopard gecko can be an important part of their overall care routine. Here are some steps to follow when bathing a leopard gecko:

1. Prepare the bath: Fill a shallow dish or container with lukewarm water. The water should be about an inch deep, but not so deep that the gecko can't touch the bottom with their feet.

2. Get the gecko: Carefully pick up your leopard gecko and gently place them into the bath. Be sure to support their body and keep them calm.

3. Let them soak: Allow your gecko to soak in the water for about 10-15 minutes. This can help to soften any shed skin they may have and make it easier for them to shed.

4. Monitor the temperature: Keep an eye on the temperature of the water to ensure it doesn't get too cold or too hot. The ideal temperature for the bath is between 80-85 degrees Fahrenheit.

5. Dry off: After the bath, use a soft towel to gently pat your gecko dry. Be sure to get them completely dry, especially in any areas where they may be prone to retained moisture, such as their armpits.

6. Provide a hiding place: After the bath, offer your gecko a hiding place to help them feel secure. This could be a small cave or a piece of cardboard.

It's important to note that leopard geckos don't need to be bathed very often - once a month is usually sufficient. Additionally, never leave your gecko unattended during their bath and always handle them gently to avoid causing them stress.
