How to Activate Safe Mode on Windows

Activating Safe Mode on Windows is a useful troubleshooting tool that allows you to start your computer with only the essential drivers and services needed to run the operating system. This can help you identify and solve problems that may be preventing your computer from starting up properly. Here are the steps to activate Safe Mode on Windows:

1. Start or restart your computer. 2. Press the F8 key repeatedly before the Windows logo appears on the screen. If the Windows logo appears, you’ll need to restart your computer and try again. 3. On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode option you want to use.

  - Safe Mode: Starts Windows with only essential drivers and services.
  - Safe Mode with Networking: Starts Windows with essential drivers and services and also enables networking.
  - Safe Mode with Command Prompt: Starts Windows with a command prompt window instead of the Windows interface.

4. Press Enter to select the option you want. 5. If prompted, log in with your username and password. 6. When you’re finished troubleshooting, restart your computer normally to exit Safe Mode.

Note: In Windows 8 and 10, the F8 key method may not work due to the fast startup feature. In this case, you can hold down the Shift key while selecting Restart from the Start menu to access the Advanced Startup Options menu, where you can select the Safe Mode option.
