Applying thermal paste correctly is important to ensure efficient heat transfer between the CPU (Central Processing Unit) and the CPU cooler, which helps to prevent overheating and extend the lifespan of your computer. Here are the steps to apply thermal paste: 1. Clean the CPU and the cooler: Use isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth or thermal paste remover to clean any old thermal paste from both the CPU and the cooler. Make sure there is no residue left on either surface before applying new thermal paste. 2. Apply thermal paste: Apply a small amount of thermal paste (about the size of a pea or a grain of rice) in the center of the CPU. Be careful not to apply too much, as this can create air pockets and decrease the effectiveness of the thermal paste. 3. Spread the thermal paste: Gently spread the thermal paste evenly over the surface of the CPU using a plastic card or a spatula. Make sure the entire surface of the CPU is covered with a thin layer of thermal paste. 4. Attach the cooler: Carefully place the cooler on top of the CPU and gently press it down until it is securely attached. The pressure from the cooler will help to spread the thermal paste evenly and create a good contact between the CPU and the cooler. 5. Connect the fan: Once the cooler is attached, connect the fan to the appropriate power source and turn on the computer to check the CPU temperature. If the temperature is high, you may need to reapply the thermal paste and try again. Remember to always follow the manufacturer's instructions when applying thermal paste, as different CPUs and coolers may require different techniques for optimal results.
