==== Since stopping rotation in space is really hard, you want to induce spin on enemy satellites or space objects to render them useless. This is a great concept because: ==== * If a satellite starts spinning chaotically, it can’t aim its sensors or antennas. * It becomes uncontrollable for its operators. * The satellite might break itself apart due to stress on its structure. ===== 1. Electromagnetic Fields: - If the target is made of metal, you could use pulsed magnetic fields to push and pull on different parts of the structure, creating spin. ===== # Focused Particle Beams: - A charged particle beam (like electrons or ions) could transfer momentum and push one side more than the other. # Asymmetric Force Application (Micro-Impacts): - Instead of hitting a satellite head-on, hitting it off-center with small kinetic projectiles (like tiny railgun slugs) could spin it instead of destroying it. # Focused Plasma Jets or Solar Wind Manipulation: - If you could redirect charged solar wind particles toward an object’s asymmetric parts, they could cause gradual spin.
