Mugen is a free, open-source 2D fighting game engine that allows users to create their own custom characters, stages, and gameplay modes. Here are the steps to add Mugen characters: 1. Download the Mugen character file: You can find Mugen character files on various websites such as Mugen Archive, Mugen Free For All, and Mugen Database. Download the character file and extract it to a folder on your computer. 2. Copy the character files to your Mugen directory: The Mugen directory is the folder where you installed Mugen. It typically has a file path similar to C:\MUGEN. Copy the extracted character files to the "chars" folder in your Mugen directory. 3. Edit the select.def file: The select.def file is located in the "data" folder in your Mugen directory. Open this file in a text editor such as Notepad. Scroll down until you find the section labeled "[Characters]". Add a line for your new character, including the character's name, the name of the character's .def file, and the name of the character's portrait file. For example, if you added a character named Ryu, the line would look like this: Ryu, Ryu.def, Ryu.png 4. Save and close the select.def file: Make sure to save the changes you made to the select.def file. 5. Launch Mugen: Double-click the Mugen executable file in your Mugen directory to launch the game. 6. Choose your new character: When you reach the character select screen, your new character should be available. Select the character and start playing. That's it! You have successfully added a Mugen character to your game. Repeat these steps for any additional characters you want to add.
