Adding large numbers can be a daunting task, but it can be made easier by following these steps: Step 1: Align the numbers Write the numbers one below the other and align the columns. Make sure the ones, tens, hundreds, and so on, are aligned properly. Step 2: Add the ones column Start by adding the digits in the ones column. If the sum is less than 10, write it below the line. If the sum is 10 or more, write the ones digit below the line and carry the tens digit to the next column. Step 3: Add the tens column Add the digits in the tens column, along with any carry from the previous step. Again, write the sum below the line and carry any excess to the next column. Step 4: Continue adding the columns Repeat this process for each subsequent column until you have added all the columns. Step 5: Check your answer Once you have added all the columns, check your answer by adding the numbers in a different order or by using a calculator. Example: Suppose you need to add the following two large numbers: 345,678 and 456,789. 345,678 + 456,789 --------- 802,467 So, the answer is 802,467.
