What if Taylor Swift wrote a song called "the fate of Ophelia" with these lyrics?

Lyrics
I heard you calling
On the megaphone
You wanna see me all alone
As legend has it you
Are quite the pyro
You light the match to watch it blow
And if you'd never come for me
I might've drowned in the melancholy
I swore my loyalty to me, myself and I
Right before you lit my sky up
All that time
I sat alone in my tower
You were just honing your powers
Now I can see it all (see it all)
Late one night
You dug me out of my grave and
Saved my heart from the fate of
Ophelia
Keep it one hundred
On the land, the sea, the sky
Pledge allegiance to your hands
Your team, your vibes
Don't care where the hell you been
'Cause now you're mine
It's 'bout to be the sleepless night
You've been dreaming of
The fate of Ophelia
The eldest daughter of a nobleman
Ophelia lived in fantasy
But love was a cold bed full of scorpions
The venom stole her sanity
And if you'd never come for me
I might've lingered in purgatory
You wrap around me like a chain, a crown, a vine
Pulling me into the fire
All that time
I sat alone in my tower
You were just honing your powers
Now I can see it all (see it all)
Late one night
You dug me out of my grave and
Saved my heart from the fate of
Ophelia
Keep it one hundred
On the land, the sea, the sky
Pledge allegiance to your hands
Your team, your vibes
Don't care where the hell you been
'Cause now you're mine
It's 'bout to be the sleepless night
You've been dreaming of
The fate of Ophelia
'Tis locked inside my memory
And only you possess the key
No longer drowning and deceived
All because you came for me
Locked inside my memory
And only you possess the key
No longer drowning and deceived
All because you came for me
All that time
I sat alone in my tower
You were just honing your powers
Now I can see it all (I can see it all)
Late one night
You dug me out of my grave and
Saved my heart from the fate of
Ophelia
Keep it one hundred
On the land, the sea, the sky
Pledge allegiance to your hands
Your team, your vibes
Don't care where the hell you been
'Cause now you're mine
It's 'bout to be the sleepless night
You've been dreaming of
The fate of Ophelia
You saved my heart from the fate of
Ophelia

That would feel like a very Taylor-coded song—especially in her folklore / evermore / Midnights era lane. If she released “The Fate of Ophelia”, fans would absolutely lose their minds over the literary symbolism and the dark-romance rescue arc.

Here’s how it reads in “Taylor language”:

==== 🌊 Who is Ophelia? ====

Ophelia is the tragic character from Shakespeare’s ''Hamlet'' —
a young woman crushed by betrayal, manipulation, and grief, who ultimately drowns.

In pop culture, “Ophelia” has become shorthand for:
* A woman destroyed by love
* A girl abandoned by everyone she trusted
* A romantic who loses herself trying to please others

So “the fate of Ophelia” = emotional ruin, madness, abandonment, drowning in heartbreak.

Taylor loves doomed literary women (see: mad woman, tolerate it, ivy, right where you left me).

==== 🔥 The Story of the Song ====

This version of “The Fate of Ophelia” tells a dark fairytale rescue story:

===== Verse 1 — The Villain Era =====

: You light the match to watch it blow
: You were just honing your powers

The love interest is dangerous, chaotic, destructive — classic Taylor anti-hero energy.
Think: Getaway Car, I Did Something Bad, Don’t Blame Me.

===== Chorus — The Rescue =====

: You dug me out of my grave
: Saved my heart from the fate of Ophelia

This is the core Taylor fantasy:
* She was alone
* She was drowning
* She was forgotten
* And someone chose her anyway

Very “Call It What You Want”, “Invisible String”, “Labyrinth” coded.

===== Verse 2 — The Literary Twist =====

: The eldest daughter of a nobleman
: Ophelia lived in fantasy
: But love was a cold bed full of scorpions
: The venom stole her sanity

This is peak Swiftie bait:
* Shakespeare reference
* Romantic disillusionment
* Love as poison
* Loss of innocence

She loves framing love as something beautiful but deadly.

===== Bridge — The Taylor Obsession Motif =====

: Locked inside my memory
: And only you possess the key

Taylor’s signature:
* Fate
* Destiny
* Chosen one
* One person who truly sees her

==== 🕯️ The Themes ====

This song would be about:
* Escaping emotional destruction
* Being saved from becoming a tragic girl
* Choosing survival over self-sacrifice
* Letting someone love you when you expected to drown

It’s basically:

: “I was supposed to become a ghost, but you pulled me back into the world.”

==== 🖤 Where It Fits in Her Discography ====

This would sit perfectly alongside:
* ivy
* willow
* my tears ricochet
* labyrinth
* the lakes
* right where you left me

Fans would say:

: “This is Taylor’s Ophelia song. This is her literary era.”

If you want, I can:
* Write it in actual Taylor verse structure
* Rewrite it as if it were on folklore or Midnights
* Or turn it into a full bridge-breakdown-final-chorus moment the way she does live 🎤✨

Because honestly? This already feels like a vault track.
