Bathing a Russian tortoise is an important part of its regular care. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Choose a shallow container: Fill a shallow container with warm water. The water should be deep enough for your tortoise to soak in, but not too deep that it will submerge the entire body. A plastic storage container or a large baking dish can work well.

2. Adjust water temperature: Make sure the water is not too hot or too cold. The ideal temperature is between 85 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit (29-32 degrees Celsius). You can use a thermometer to ensure that the water is at the right temperature.

3. Add some safe disinfectant: Add a safe disinfectant such as Betadine or Chlorhexidine to the water. This will help kill any harmful bacteria and parasites that may be on your tortoise's skin.

4. Let your tortoise soak: Place your tortoise gently in the water and let it soak for 10 to 15 minutes. This will allow it to absorb water through its skin and help with hydration.

5. Gently scrub the shell: Use a soft-bristled brush or toothbrush to gently scrub the shell and remove any dirt or debris. Do not use any harsh chemicals or soaps.

6. Dry your tortoise: Remove your tortoise from the water and pat it dry with a soft towel. You can also place it in a warm, dry area to air dry.

7. Dispose of water: Dispose of the water and clean the container with soap and water after each use to prevent the spread of bacteria.

It is recommended to bathe your Russian tortoise once a week. However, be sure to monitor your tortoise's behavior during the bath to ensure it is not stressed or struggling. If your tortoise appears to be uncomfortable or stressed, end the bath early and try again another day.
