Adding binary numbers involves following a set of rules to add each digit of the binary numbers, including the carry (if any) from the previous addition. Here are the steps to add binary numbers: 1. Write down the two binary numbers you want to add, placing them one on top of the other with the rightmost digits aligned. 2. Starting from the rightmost digit, add the two digits together. If the sum of the digits is 0 or 1, write the result underneath the digits being added. 3. If the sum of the digits is 2, write 0 underneath the digits being added and carry 1 to the next column to the left. 4. If the sum of the digits is 3, write 1 underneath the digits being added and carry 1 to the next column to the left. 5. Continue this process, adding each digit in the same column and carrying over any necessary values, until you have added all of the digits. 6. If there is a carry at the end of the addition, write it as an additional digit on the left side of the result. 7. The result is the sum of the two binary numbers. Here's an example of adding two binary numbers, 1011 and 1101: ``` 1 0 1 1 (1011) + 1 1 0 1 (1101) --------- 1 0 0 1 0 (10010) ``` So the sum of 1011 and 1101 in binary is 10010.
