To activate dried yeast, follow these steps: 1. Warm the liquid: Heat the liquid called for in your recipe to a temperature of 105-115Β°F (40-46Β°C). This can be water or milk, depending on your recipe. 2. Add the yeast: Add the amount of dried yeast called for in your recipe to the warm liquid. Mix it gently to combine. 3. Let it sit: Let the mixture sit for about 5-10 minutes. During this time, the yeast should start to foam and bubble. This is a sign that the yeast is active and alive. 4. Stir and use: After 5-10 minutes, give the mixture a gentle stir to make sure the yeast is fully dissolved. Then, use the mixture immediately in your recipe. It's important not to use water that is too hot, as this can kill the yeast. Similarly, if the yeast doesn't foam and bubble after 10 minutes, it may be too old and should be discarded. Finally, it's important to use the activated yeast immediately, as its potency will start to diminish after 30 minutes or so.
